  • Support the development of identified students’ social, emotional, and behavioural skills through structured activities and positive behaviour supports.
  • Develop and prepare instructional or behavioural materials related to various programs and strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress, planned programs, and observations.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of interventions and make recommendations for adjustment as needed.
  • Provide written and verbal updates to the Emotional Behavioural Specialist and classroom team, including contact notes, progress reports, and anecdotal observations.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with teachers and school staff to ensure consistent implementation of behavioural strategies.
  • Model and discuss strategies and supports for classroom teams as appropriate.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and assist in the delivery of workshops or seminars.
  • Contribute positively to a team-oriented, student-focused environment.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Diploma in Disability Studies or a related field from a recognized institution; additional training in behavioural therapy, psychology, or special education is considered an asset.
  • Experience: Direct experience working with children in educational or therapeutic settings, preferably in pediatrics.
  • Knowledge of applied human behaviour, positive behaviour supports, inclusion and advocacy principles, and interpersonal communication strategies.
  • Understanding of crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and the impact of developmental delays or disorders on behaviour.
  • Familiarity with educational inclusion practices and 21st-century learning principles.
  • Proficiency with multi-media technology and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including digital literacy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills with a positive, collaborative attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
